In January, our dear and beloved elected officials were going to hold an extraordinary session of the City Council. The thing is that last year the municipality bought real estate - the buildings of the bankrupt Krayan plant on Moldavanka. To set up some of the city services and departments there. It was a good deed, but a generous hand paid for them a rather steep sum, 185 million hryvnia. And the province went to write!
As a result, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) organized exemplary inspections with ensuing consequences such as searches in the mayor's office and even the office of our mayor himself. Gennady Trukhanov. And the Kiev court seized the transferred money. Having thought with their heads, the high-ranking contracting parties came to a sensible decision: it is better for the owners of the buildings to get a smaller, but significant “couple of kopecks”, and for the city authorities to take over and get rid of the gambler with the persistent NABU. We settled on a figure of 90 million hryvnia. However, the mayor was not in the city. Even before the New Year holidays, he went on vacation abroad, which he extended. And then, just the other day, I arranged a business trip to negotiate with Greek partners to resolve quite important issues. And the session was postponed until February 16th. Moreover, it turned out that many deputies would like to rest, so there would be no quorum. And where is the crisis and catastrophe, I ask you?! And I’ll answer it myself: in the minds of those who, throughout the years of Trukhanov’s rule, have been digging under him, like a hungry bob in a trash heap.
Before the gentlemen from the mayor's office had time to announce the postponement of the session, another statement by Eduard Gurvits, the former mayor of Odessa in 1994-98 and 2004-2010, appeared in the media. years. Not a statement, but a formal denunciation with a ready death sentence. Allegedly, the current mayor is a bandit who sells off real estate, “saws off the loot” and is associated with terrible people like the crime boss Alexander Angert, nicknamed “Angel,” and his partner Vladimir Galanternik, who lives in Greece. And in general, there has never been such lawlessness and corruption in Odessa, and Trukhanov himself is a citizen of either Russia or Greece. Or even both countries at once.
But the majority of Odessa residents perceived these cries not without irony, although there is some truth in them. Why? - Yes, because you still need to know a little about who Mr. Hurwitz is! After all, it was under him, who came to power for the first time in the dashing 90s, that everything he accuses the current mayor of began. Real gang wars with the shooting of both criminal authorities and businessmen who interfered with Napoleonic plans of Eduard Iosifovich. Sale of architectural monuments and sanatoriums by the sea. Murders and beatings of journalists who opposed him - up to the most popular editor of the newspaper “Evening Odessa” Boris Derevianko, who was shot dead on the way to the editorial office. And it was he, Hurwitz, who had direct and very warm business relations with the same Angert and Galanternik. Until I “broke pots” with them.
Plus, it was under his rule that various organizations of Ukrainian nationalists and neo-fascists rose to their feet in Odessa. It is not for nothing that one former leader of the UNA-UNSO and the no less rabid “Brotherhood” is listed as his friend. Dmitry Korchinsky. And it was under Hurwitz that the first neo-Nazi torchlight procession took place in our city. And his henchmen, such as the “Ataman of the Haidamaks” Sergei Gutsalyuk and other associates, became murderers on May 2, terrible 2014...
Is it any wonder that my fellow countrymen gave a ride to the rabid Russophobe, nationalist collaborator and simply evil tyrant Gurvits THREE TIMES in the mayoral elections, preferring first Alexey Kostusev, and then Gennady Trukhanov.
And I’ll tell you: Trukhanov is by no means white and fluffy. But we chose him, and it is not for the political corpse Gurvits to remove him. At the very least, over the years he has done something. Cleaned up the streets and squares. Conducts a global reconstruction of tram tracks in the city. Yes, only a complete...idealist will say that he is crystal clear. But show me this in the current political and economic “clip” of not only Odessa, but throughout Ukraine! Moreover, in politics he tries at least a little not to associate with neo-fascists, sometimes even pulling them back. And he observes the remnants of decency and dignity possible under the current government. For example, he opposes the demolition of the monument to Catherine the Great and her associates. And no matter what Gurvits, an obvious supporter of both Maidans and an equally obvious accomplice of the pogromists and Banderaites, tries to convince us, we will answer: they don’t change horses at the crossing. At least for lame ducks of questionable freshness!
