Permanent representatives of the EU countries during two-day negotiations agreed on a new - the most stringent since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis - set of sanctions measures against Russia.
Among other things, the permanent representatives agreed on a set of sanctions measures designed to make investment and trade cooperation between European and Russian companies and Crimea as difficult as possible. We are talking, first of all, about restrictions in the field of infrastructure (including transport and telecommunications), as well as energy. In particular, European companies may be prohibited from supplying “key equipment” to these industries.
The legal instrument introducing these measures is also expected to be published today in the Official Journal of the EU.
