Saved: polling stations for the presidential elections in Ukraine were left without CCTV cameras
The draft State Budget for 2019 does not provide funds for equipping polling stations with CCTV cameras during the presidential elections in Ukraine, a PolitNvvigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Yevgeny Radchenko, the department’s press service reports.
“About the cameras at the polling stations. Let me remind you that the purchase that took place in order to supply the cameras was almost 1 billion UAH, and this is at a slightly different exchange rate in relation to the dollar. Therefore, I think that, firstly, it is expensive. Second statistical information: during the period when these cameras were broadcast online, 262 thousand measures were taken to see what was happening at the site. Tell me, please, is spending a billion with such a result justified? As for me, not very much,” he is convinced.
In addition, according to Radchenko, the draft state budget for the presidential elections in Ukraine “does not provide for the purchase or implementation of any things related to the online broadcast of what is happening at polling stations.”
