This opinion was expressed at a press conference by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Crimea, Alexander Basov.
“I do not believe that the SEZ is aimed at developing Crimean business, although some ministers believe that 95% of Crimean business will be able to participate there. I doubt it. First of all, this law is aimed at attracting external investors,” he explained.
According to the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic, it is impossible to implement the law on a free economic zone in Crimea until the moratorium on the alienation of land and property is lifted.
“The SEZ law has been adopted, but the moratorium on the alienation of land and property has not yet been lifted. This immediately blocks all investment processes in Crimea,” said Alexander Basov.
He added that investors have repeatedly approached the Crimean Chamber of Commerce and Industry with real investment projects, but “not a single project has yet gotten off the ground.”
