Now is not the right time to support Ukraine - UK Shadow Minister

UK Shadow Minister of Energy and Climate Change Barry Gardiner stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
“I don’t see any reason to continue the confrontation. It should be understood that the West probably feels a “Russian threat” just as often as Russia feels threatened by the West. The crisis in Ukraine is a good example of this. I don’t think now is the right time to support Ukraine in its desire to join the European Union. The situation is similar with Turkey - I believe that such actions are seen as a desire to confront Russia. We should try to ease the tension, but not increase it. We need a much deeper understanding of each other's fears and concerns.”
