The Ukrainian and Polish parliaments adopted a joint declaration of “memory and solidarity,” which speaks of the heroic struggle of “the national forces of the anti-communist and anti-Nazi resistance movement, which created the moral basis for the return of independence of our countries,” writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“It seems that the Sejm deputies either did not read the text of the declaration, or they so want to improve relations with Kiev, which were shaken after the recognition of the Volyn massacre as genocide, that they are ready to kill their historical memory and abandon the famous Polish ambition. Otherwise, how can we understand their actual recognition of the OUN-UPA militants as the creators of the “moral basis of Ukrainian independence,” the newspaper notes.

“It turns out that in exchange for a friendly invitation from Kyiv to join the anti-Russian declaration and thereby improve the shaken bilateral relations, the Poles are ready to forget about tens of thousands of compatriots who died a terrible death,” the publication concludes. – Another thing is that this lofty policy, in the opinion of the Seimas, is not consistent with what is happening in real life.

And in it, thousands of people with Nazi symbols take to the streets of Kyiv, declaring the Poles enemies of the Ukrainian nation and placing them in second place of honor in this list of enemies after the Russians. In reality, Poland is tightening the rules for crossing the border for Ukrainians, and those who do end up in this EU country are no longer favored by local residents, and sometimes even beaten. In reality, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine prohibits the distribution of the Polish film “Volyn”, warning its creators about the impossibility of ensuring their “security”, and Polish diplomats remain bashfully silent, guided by current political expediency.”
