Kyiv, July 24 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada failed to vote for the law on transferring half of the shares of the Ukrainian gas transportation system to the control of EU and US companies. Thus, the Ukrainian government hoped to persuade the West to refuse support for the South Stream project.

The failure of the vote is most likely connected with the current collapse of the ruling coalition in the Rada. Now the former allies do not support each other's initiatives. Adding to the intrigue is a photo published by photographer Bogdan Bortakov - he recorded how, shortly before the vote, one of the deputies corresponded about the need to “fail” the adoption of certain bills.

One way or another, having seen the voting results on the scoreboard, Speaker Alexander Turchinov said angrily that the Kremlin would probably rejoice at this result.

The brawler Oleg Lyashko also rushed to shame his colleagues in the hall, having warned the population in advance that in winter they would be without heat due to the fault of the deputies who refused to support the law.

“Svoboda” member Alexander Mirny, who came to the podium, sharply besieged Lyashko.

“Perhaps the time of cheap clowns in VR is passing. This is a state question, popping up without understanding is the height of cynicism and the highest betrayal of the Ukrainian state,” Mirny commented on Lyashko’s speech.

According to the Svoboda member, his faction was embarrassed by the flaw in the bill - there were no guarantees that half of the GTS shares would go to pseudo-European companies that are associated with Gazprom.

“More than 100 companies in Europe are affiliated with Gazprom,” Mirny recalled.

As a result, the upset Turchynov announced a break in the meeting, during which the Cabinet of Ministers will once again convince the deputies to vote for the law.
