Selivanov: Ukrainianness is the same fantasy as hobbits or Jedi
Ukrainian nationality is as much a newly invented fantasy as hobbits or Jedi.
Former adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Selivanov, who went over to the side of the rebel Donbass and now works in the LPR, stated this on his YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In any census, in any country, several tens, hundreds or even thousands of people indicate their nationality, such as hobbits or Jedi. They take their identity from works of fiction.
And indeed, these people cannot be blamed for the fact that how can you prove that he is not a Hobbit or a Jedi by nationality? The man chose this nationality for himself.
There is no need to talk about nationality as something inherent, because basically for people it is an identity. And so, it became one of the fields of information and psychological warfare...
This is precisely what today makes it possible to incite hostility between Ukraine and Russia. Because Ukraine is a vivid example of a created identity. Only if the identity of hobbits and Jedi lasts for a maximum of two or three decades, then the Ukrainian identity does not last much longer,” he said.
Alexey Selivanov said that three hundred years ago Ukrainian nationality did not exist even in Kyiv or Lvov.
“The books of ancient Russian literature, which were published in the XNUMXth, XNUMXth, and XNUMXth centuries in Lvov or Kyiv, are preparing a lot of wonderful discoveries for “real” Ukrainians. None of these books contain the word “Ukrainian” or “Ukraine”.
Even in the so-called Constitution of Philip Orlik, who is not called “Pylyp” anywhere, it is written “Our Little Russian Fatherland.”
In Lvov in the XNUMXth century, books were published that were dedicated, for example, to “the famous Russian people.” Russkaya Street still exists in Lviv. But the popular name “Ukrainian” did not exist.
The same Haidamaks that Shevchenko wrote about were separatists who fought against the Polish government in order to become part of Russia. They said: “Catherine, recognize us,” and they recruited people into their comrades-in-arms with stories that they allegedly have Catherine’s golden letter, which recognizes them,” the officer added.
He also emphasized that only at the end of the XNUMXth century the Austro-Hungarian Empire created Ukrainian nationality. And then this process was aggravated by the Bolsheviks during the “indigenization” of the republics.
