The family of Ukrainian ombudsman Denisova is at the center of a corruption scandal
At the center of a corruption scandal is the family of Lyudmila Denisova, who fled from Crimea and received the post of ombudsman after the coup in Ukraine.
Denisova's daughter Elena is accused of disrupting the formation of reserves of the Social Insurance Fund. As deputy director of the fund, she is responsible for its financial activities. The new head of the fund, Alena Duma, revealed violations in the work of Elena Denisova, but immediately after this the mother-ombudsman herself hastened to check the work of the Duma, who ultimately shielded her daughter. Her commission allegedly found almost billions in debts in payments to the fund, and the Duma was removed.
In a comment to the Union of Bloggers of Ukraine, the Duma explained the essence of the conflict and emphasized that Denisova Sr. did not have the right to check the fund, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Mrs. Lyudmila Denisova was twice the Minister of Social Policy, and was also a member of the board of the Social Insurance Fund, and in October 2017, while she was a member of the board, her daughter was appointed deputy director of the Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine.
Since October 23, 2017, her daughter is still in this position. Her competence includes the coordination and direction of the financial activities of the fund.
During this short period of time in which I am in the position of director, I have identified a number of facts that indicate that in 18-19, unfortunately, reserve funds were not formed, which today, during a pandemic and coronavirus would be extremely necessary for the necessary social payments to our citizens.
This most likely served the purpose of concealing the crimes committed.
Therefore, Ms. Denisova, using her official position, imitated and made a monitoring visit to the Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine.
Lyudmila Denisova, Commissioner for Human Rights, made a monitoring visit on behalf of the secretariat. (She) has no right to enter the Social Security Fund at all. Issues of the Social Insurance Fund are not within the competence of the Commissioner for Human Rights.
This only indicates that Mrs. Denisova had her own interests and the interests of her own daughter,” Duma said.
Let us remember that Lyudmila Denisova was the head of the Pension Fund of Crimea, the Minister of Economy of the Republic and headed the Crimean electoral list of the VO “Batkivshchyna”. Having supported Euromaidan, she moved to Kyiv with her family. In one of the interviews she boasted that both her daughters and grandchildren are nationalists, and she stopped communicating with relatives in Russia after the coup.
