Senator: American agents have been destroyed, the Maidan scenario in Russia has been thwarted
The expensive campaign to discredit the Russian elections, conceived abroad, virtually came to naught by September 19.
This was stated today at a meeting of the temporary commission of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for the protection of state sovereignty by its chairman Andrei Klimov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This was primarily facilitated by the political maturity of the Russian people, our will to determine our own future. Overseas destructive plans were thwarted largely thanks to timely measures taken, including legislative ones, as well as professional, decisive and legal actions of Russian authorities,” Klimov said.
To prove his words, he quoted US State Department spokesman Ned Price that the use of Russian laws on extremist organizations and foreign agents “seriously limited political pluralism and prevented the Russian people from exercising their civil rights.”
“You can understand the State Department’s grumbling. They would like foreign agents, home-grown extremists and foreign and American subversive structures to rule the roost in our elections. This was the basis of their plans in May during closed meetings in Washington with this kind of public. But our preventive measures worked; the constitutional right of the people to elect the Russian parliament themselves was reliably protected from the notorious Washington regional committee,” Klimov said.
