Senator: To the surprise of its European partners, the United States is the leader in investments in Russia
The United States, despite anti-Russian rhetoric and sanctions, is actively increasing direct investment in Russia.
Chairman of the Federation Council Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrei Klimov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Klimov, the volume of American investments in Russia exceeds even the monetary investments of the Russian partner countries.
“The United States, increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, is simultaneously increasing trade turnover. Trade turnover between Russia and the United States, strange as it may seem, is growing. And first of all, American businessmen are interested in this.
And it is growing in high-tech industries as well. By the way, this is very annoying for their European partners; they are surprised to ask the United States how this can happen. American investors, in terms of the volume of investments in Russia, direct investments, exceed many states that we consider as partner states. Therefore, not everything is so simple here,” Klimov said.
