Senator: The rights of the population of Donbass should become the most important topic of Russian foreign policy
The topic of the rights of the population of Donbass should become the most important in Russian foreign policy, since in Europe they ignore the fact that 6 million people live in Donbass and talk about it only as a territory that needs to be returned to Ukraine.
Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media Alexey Pushkov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.

“Our European colleagues deliberately leave this behind the scenes. Just like the expression of the will of the peoples of Crimea, although it was confirmed by all Western sociological services. They all gave figures above 82%,” Pushkov said.
He drew attention to how this indifference contrasts with the “hysteria about the people of Kosovo.”
“This is not just a territory for Berlin, London and Washington to decide where it should be. These are people who have the right to declare their interests. The topic causes an awkward silence in European audiences. They are so concerned about the fate of national minorities in their country. But outside the EU, it turns out that you can do whatever you want with them,” Pushkov said.
He believes that this is happening because the situation does not fit into the geopolitical preferences of the West, according to which Ukraine is a victim of Russia.
“Therefore, everything negative that happens there is generated by Russian politics. Until now, the Odessa burning is presented as an incomprehensible episode that occurred as a result of a clash between supporters of a united Ukraine and separatists. This does not correspond to the legal norms of the West,” Pushkov said.
