The senator proposed that Polish deputies should personally answer for his Red Army grandfather

Russia must impose personal sanctions against deputies of the Polish Sejm who voted for the “decommunization” law, which allows for the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers who liberated Poland.

Senator Anton Belyakov stated this today at a meeting of the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“An adequate response would be a decision on personal sanctions. I know that some of the Seimas deputies who prepared this decision have economic ties with the Kaliningrad region and often visit our country. I believe that we could well initiate a ban on entry into the territory of the Russian Federation,” Belyakov said.

He recalled that the adoption of laws on the demolition of monuments is a violation of a number of international treaties, according to which Poland assumed obligations to care for military graves.

“Such actions are a direct violation of the criminal code. I am not calling for criminal prosecution of politicians who made such decisions, but my personal opinion is that it is impossible to ignore this situation. My grandfather Ivan Zabelin died a month and a half before the Victory, liberating Gdynia,” Belyakov said.
