The senator proposed translating all Russian Internet content into English
Promoting Russian social networks in English will increase the competitiveness of domestic media.
Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov announced this today at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We still work in a limited space in Russia and some neighboring states. But our social networks are a cross-border phenomenon. And here we need to think, just as the RT channel works in a number of languages, we need to create English-language social networks. We have enough people who speak English to be part of the global exchange of opinions. Yes, somewhere they will be blocked and interfered with, but it is impossible to block everything. This is a promising task. So far, I don’t see that we are fully aware of the need for such work,” Pushkov said.
He believes that the citation rate of Russian media will increase if leading news agencies publish information in English.
“I don’t really understand why our leading news agencies don’t work in English. This is the same toolkit. This would dramatically strengthen our information presence in the world. This is a matter of public policy,” Pushkov said.
