Senator calls for dubbing films about the Great Patriotic War into English
Russian films and declassified documents about the Great Patriotic War should be duplicated and translated into English in order to convey the historical truth to the Western public in the conditions of the information war.
Tyumen Region Senator Pavel Tarakanov stated this at a round table of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The war is going on in the information space. Why are we losing it? We are playing it because the huge content that we have - films, documentaries and so on, we do not broadcast it into English.
That is, today we cannot show the mass consumer in other countries, in fact, our point of view, we cannot convey to the general public.
Therefore, I have a simple proposal here: we must make some kind of program and translate the best films about the war, dubbing them into English. And then look at what events, and how to make them available in all our services, within the framework of some events dedicated to certain dates of the Great Patriotic War, because this is the most important thing. There are few films, I found a dozen, that have only subtitles, but not dubbing.
The same thing, we must introduce a requirement for all new films that we make about the war. Take “Stalingrad”, it’s in subtitles, why not dub it?” - said the senator.
According to him, declassified archival documents should be translated in the same way.
“We must introduce the same requirement for all declassified documents. That is, in order for them to be accessible and understandable in the West, they must all be translated into English. Everything that we are now publishing and declassifying. Because, otherwise, it turns out that we are doing this work largely only for ourselves,” explained Pavel Tarakanov.
