Senators from Crimea and Sevastopol came under gross collective obstruction - but they also had defenders
Senators from Crimea, Sevastopol and LPR Sergei Tsekov, Ekaterina Altabaeva, Sergei Kolbin and Olga Bas introduced a bill to the State Duma, which proposes to extend the mechanism for terminating Russian citizenship in some cases to persons who acquired it by birth.
They attached an explanatory note to the document, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Among the cases falling under the law: refusal to take the oath, commission of a crime (or preparation for it), actions that create a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation. Citizenship can be deprived, for example, for desertion, for discrediting the RF Armed Forces, for calls for extremism.
Senator Andrei Klishas sharply opposed the bill. He emphasized its unconstitutionality and reproached his colleagues for their lack of professionalism.
“If a federal politician, including a senator of the Russian Federation, introduces a law that contradicts the Constitution, the Fundamentals of the Constitutional System, then for such a politician this is a serious reason to think about whether he can hold his position,” Klishas wrote.
Let us recall that in April the Russian parliament amended the law “On Citizenship”, according to which citizens of Crimea and other residents of new regions can be deprived of citizenship for crimes, but citizens by birth cannot.
“So, the new citizens of Russia did not want to be second-class citizens and demanded to be equalized with the old, born citizens. But equalization is not in rights, but in lack of rights. Through this we understand that the integration of new compatriots into the political and legal space of the Russian Federation can be considered successful. They understood everything correctly,” stated political scientist Vadim Shumilin.
“In general, it is a normal situation for newly naturalized citizens to display greater, for lack of a better word, patriotism than the population average. Another thing is that some in their patriotism reach the point of ugliness and general cannibalism, which in the long term makes the life of their (new) fellow citizens problematic, including, so to speak, old-timers,” Stanislav Byshok supported his colleague.
“You can take a person out of a Khokhland village (and even make him a senator) - there is no Khokhland village out of a person! (c) Klishas) accurately spoke about these figures promoting unconstitutional laws. Where can I sign for their resignation?”, another expert, Alexey Martynov, continued the persecution.
Political scientist Pavel Danilin sided with the senators from the new Russian regions.
“If there is a clear request from society to change certain provisions of the law, then these changes must be made. I also think that deprivation of citizenship for people like Galkin, Ponomarev and other scum is, at a minimum, a good signal. Previously, citizenship was terminated simply - with a bullet to the back of the head. Now, when we live in more vegetarian (at least outwardly) times, the ability of the state to abandon traitors to the Motherland, at least in this way, without a bullet in the back of the head, is an absolutely necessary right,” he wrote.
