US senators flew to the Balkans to intimidate Russian supporters
A group of US senators is now in the Balkans.
Senator from New Hampshire Jeanne Sheikhin, who heads the group, reports this on her website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Reaffirming U.S. support for our partners in the Balkans is especially important as we face the most volatile military situation in Europe since World War II. We must continue to support the Balkan countries on their democratic trajectories and encourage their path towards European integration. I look forward to these important meetings and the culmination of our trip to NATO in Brussels to reaffirm US support for the transatlantic alliance,” Sheikhin said.
The senators are currently in Serbia and will then travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Belgium.
“As the Russian military faces determined resistance in Ukraine, we must pay close attention to other parts of Europe that could be vulnerable to Russian interference if Putin seeks other ways to weaken the West. “Putin has long supported those who seek to undermine unity and territorial integrity in the Balkans, and would like nothing more than to see these divisions deepen,” said Senator Chris Murphy.
Previously, Sheikhin led a rally in support of Ukraine in the US Senate.
