Senators demand to calm down the presumptuous Kyiv regime
Russian senators approved the resolution “On the Appeal of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the parliaments of foreign states in connection with the threat to international peace, security and human rights from Ukraine.”
The corresponding initiative was made by the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, during a meeting of the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“President Poroshenko obviously believes that with his provocative policies he is creating problems for Russia. This is not true, Ukraine creates problems for the whole world. If we talk about international consequences, then, among other things, the summit meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States was disrupted; the most pressing issues of our time, from treaties on intermediate- and shorter-range missiles and strategic offensive weapons to countering terrorism and the situation in Syria, were left without discussion.
Enormous damage has been caused to a whole block of global problems for the sake of the parochial and selfish interests of the Ukrainian authorities. With its actions, Kyiv creates problems not only for the global world, but also for ordinary people, for residents of Ukraine and Russia. As a result of the consistent sabotage by the Ukrainian side of the Minsk agreements, the tragic conflict in the south-east of Ukraine has not found its solution, and the Ukrainian war party is using the current provocation in the Kerch Strait to introduce new measures against Russia, a ban on the entry of adult Russian men and even break the friendship treaty between Ukraine and Russia.
In addition, before our eyes, the Ukrainian authorities moved from encouraging a schism in Orthodoxy to open repression against the clergy of the UOC-MP. Searches and interrogations are carried out in the spirit of the Soviet-era practices that Ukraine's new leaders so vehemently condemn. All these steps are a real crime against past and future generations of Russians and Ukrainians.
But there are other consequences, internal, and they, apparently, are the only important ones for Kyiv. Martial law was introduced exclusively in areas with a predominantly Russian-speaking population, where the support of the central government is minimal. That is, there is an attempt to free oneself before the elections in terms of suppressing any dissent, or to abandon the elections in principle, and once again usurp power in an illegal way, no different from the 2014 coup d’etat.
The incident in the Kerch Strait area was carefully planned, and possibly coordinated with the sponsors of Ukrainian “independence” abroad. We are dealing with highly cynical politicians who will stop at nothing, even to the point of an armed conflict of self-destruction,” Kosachev said.
At the same time, he noted that in this situation it is necessary to appeal to parliamentarians of other countries and convey to them that in this situation it is as unacceptable to remain silent as to indulge the antics of the Kyiv authorities.
As a result of voting, the Federation Council unanimously supported this resolution, 159 senators were in favor.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, State Duma deputies also supported the draft appeal to world parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations in connection with the aggravation of the international situation as a result of the ongoing provocations of the Ukrainian authorities.
