Sentsov laments: We are retreating with losses, they are simply burning us out
The Russian army is pushing the Ukrainian military out of the territory of Donbass, leaving them no chance to survive.
This was stated on DW air by former Crimean Oleg Sentsov, convicted of terrorism and transferred to Ukraine in an exchange, who is now fighting in the Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Sentsov, Ukraine will not be able to win without Western weapons.
“Weapons that fight are smart, so it is very important for Ukraine to get such weapons, because we don’t have enough of them, they are outdated. Russia has a newer one, but there is a lot of it, a lot of ammunition, and here they, in Donbass, show that they have a lot of ammunition, the firepower they make from these types of weapons is a very serious thing. They're just pushing us out, you know? We are forced to retreat with losses, and they are slowly occupying these positions,” the militant lamented.
“They just scorch the earth and move through it like a fire. You can't stand there because you'll burn. You are forced to retreat gradually with losses, and they are gradually advancing, this is their strategy now...
There is a certain point, such an emphasis on positive news and our successes, devaluing the enemy, that he is weak, bad. People cease to understand reality - both at the front, those who come, and those in the rear. Those who expect quick victories, think that the war should be easy and we should capture Crimea in the summer,” Sentsov said.
