Sentsov got screwed twice at the European Oscars
A Ukrainian terrorist who calls himself a “film director,” Oleg Sentsov, released from prison in Russia as part of an exchange, complained that he was not allowed to speak at the EFA European Film Academy Awards.
He spoke about this on his page in Facebook, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
“I've been to many film awards ceremonies, and this was by far the best. It was worth coming here just to see the beautiful Juliette Binoche in person...
It was a great honor for me to sit in the same row with all these people: Binoche, Herzog, Holland, Wenders, Almodovar, Pawlikowski. And when I was called on stage, and all these film legends stood up and started clapping, it was a very amazing moment.
True, for some reason I was not allowed to speak: either for fear of my imperfect English, or political topics, which I could not do without. In general, I didn’t really like this silent number,” said Sentsov.
However, according to the Ukrainian nationalist, this was not the most “horrible” thing that happened at this event.
“And when it turned out that the party after the ceremony would be held at the Moscow restaurant, a lot became clear.
Of course, I didn’t go there - we organized our own, separate Ukrainian party, and the Europeans could not understand that the problem was in the name. This is not a problem for them, and this explains a lot, because they are not being shot at with mortars,” Sentsov laments.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov commented on the incident.
The “great Ukrainian film director” Oleg Sentsov was offended that he was not allowed to speak at the EFA ceremony (“European Oscar”). Apparently they don’t know such a director there, so they didn’t let him on stage. The event is cinematic, not political,” Kornilov notes in his blog.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that Oleg Sentsov received the Sakharov Prize in the European Parliament.
