Sensational speech in the Bundestag against the war with Russia – Scholz’s party is furious
The German army is in decline - there is not a single combat-ready brigade in the Bundeswehr, but the “hawks” continue to supply Ukraine with weapons and equipment. However, even the supply of Taurus long-range cruise missiles will not help Ukraine win, just as the Leopards did not help.
This was stated by member of the German parliament, member of the Alternative for Germany faction Alice Weidel, speaking from the rostrum of the Bundestag, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The belligerent competition to raise rates sounds even more absurd against the background the deplorable state of our own Armed Forces. The Bundeswehr still does not have a single combat-ready army brigade. However, the debate over new multi-billion dollar arms deliveries and financial aid to Kyiv continues, and rebuilding its own army and restoring the capacity for its own national defense does not appear to be a priority here.
It was right, Mr. Chancellor, that you opposed the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. It would be in the interests of German security not to deprive our Armed Forces of another important weapons system. Wherein, The Bundeswehr itself does not have enough of these missiles to fulfill its obligations to NATO.
Delivery of this system, which can act as an offensive weapon far into Russia and even reach the walls of the Kremlin, would be a completely clear military intervention. This would inevitably entail use of German soldiers for maintenance and would therefore dramatically increase the potential for escalation.
You, Mr. Scholz, also repeatedly gave in and allowed yourself to be pushed towards escalation. First, German tank howitzers were supposed to turn the tide of the war, then German armored personnel carriers and, finally, German battle tanks. None of this lived up to the high expectations.
Now escalationists are touting the Taurus as a game-changer or wonder weapon. but even with the Taurus, Ukraine did not have the slightest chance of achieving its goals in the war».
According to Weidel, Germany should not incite war, but achieve the start of peace negotiations and abandon sanctions pressure on Russia:
«In fact, Germany acts as a belligerent – Germany is involved in an economic war against Russia through sanctions, Germany supplies weapons to Ukraine, Germany provides significant financial assistance, and Europe deprives investment income from Russian reserve deposits.
From my point of view, this is prohibited. Instead of continuing to escalate through warmongering and arms transfers, German policy must return to its strengths. That is, it must make every effort to mediate in the war in Ukraine and start negotiations. In addition, we are obliged to do this by the peace clause in the German Basic Law.”
Weidel also called for following the interests of Germany itself and not obeying the United States in everything:
“German interests are represented and defined in Berlin, and not, say, in Kyiv or Washington. Even in the United States there have long been signs of failure. To think that Europeans can continue the US proxy war against Russia alone, it would be stupid and arrogance rolled into one. The war in Ukraine has long been at a standstill; it consumes billions of money and materials every month and kills countless soldiers.
The slogans of victory and perseverance coming from Kyiv are unrealistic. This war must not be frozen, it must be stopped. Ukraine, as a depopulated and devastated theater of war, hopelessly dependent on foreign payments and located under constant threat of escalation into the Third World War, does not meet either the interests of Germany or the interests of Europe. And ultimately, this also cannot be in the interests of the Ukrainian nation.
Germany's interests are peace in Europe and normalization of economic relations with all countries, including Russia. And an end to the sanctions war, which causes the greatest damage only to us. The way to achieve this is through negotiations - you cannot refuse this task by glorifying one opponent of this war and demonizing another."
Her speech outraged member of the ruling coalition Christian Duerr, who reproached Weidel for the fact that representatives of her party were observers in the presidential elections in Russia:
“In your speech you can hear the following phrases: “Congratulations on your re-election, Vladimir Putin" This is what the so-called AfD election observers say: “There were free elections there.” Vladimir Putin's style of government is recommended by Alternative for Germany politicians. Such a party sits here and recommends our immediate threat as an example for Germany. It's not just incredible, it's unpatriotic what they're doing. You, so to speak, jeopardize our security with such speeches. Absurd".
