According to Gordon, Shaitanov was “recruited” even before the coup in Ukraine and the fact that he was charged with preparing to eliminate the Chechen militant Adam Osmayev, who fought on the side of Ukraine in the Donbass, was just a warm-up.

“My sources claim that the murder of Osmayev was a kind of so-called warm-up for the Shaitans. He was instructed to liquidate, physically eliminate the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov,” Gordon said in his blog.

Information about the planned assassination attempt on Avakov was also confirmed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, former Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Gerashchenko.

“Yes, indeed, the Security Service and its operational channels conveyed to us that Major General Shaitanov, in addition to the assassination attempt on Adam Osmayev, also worked to organize an assassination attempt on the Minister of Internal Affairs. This would not be the first or even the fifth attempt, but this time I thank the Security Service employees for their effective work and detention of a dangerous state criminal and spy,” Gerashchenko said.

He also noted that Shaitanov was “surrendered” to the Ukrainian special services by “European and American partners” who are tracking “Russian agents.”

“I know that General Shaitanov was in contact with FSB officers, went on business trips abroad for this, he was found by European and American colleagues monitoring the situation with Russian agents, and passed information to the Security Service that the SBU general has strange connections and contacts with Russian intelligence officers. After that, it was taken into deep development and brought to clean water,” says Gerashchenko.

Kiev investigative journalist Vladimir Boyko, who specializes in corruption in law enforcement agencies, skeptically comments on reports of the exposure of the SBU general and accomplices.

“Counterintelligence is checking 12 more SBU officers from among Shaitanov’s inner circle – in particular Petrov. One of the “devils” was detained on April 15 after a search, during which weapons were found. There’s just one thing I don’t understand: if Lieutenant Bakanov is so cool that he exposes his own generals, then why hasn’t he figured out who recorded the conversations between former Prime Minister Goncharuk and brother Ermak? And what will he tell Zelensky if Shmygal’s conversations are also made public in the near future?” - Boyko comments.

Let us remind you that PolitNavigator wrote that laughed at in Russia “exposing” Shaitanov, calling the work of the SBU ridiculous and unprofessional.
