“We are not separatists, but you”: Donbass celebrates the anniversary of the founding of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic
Today, February 12, marks 103 years since the formation of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic, the capital of which was Kharkov.
“It was created as an “autonomous region within the Russian Republic” - as opposed to the separatist project of Ukraine. That is why the leader of the republic, Artyom-Sergeev, emphasized, responding to the attacks of the Ukrainian National Bolsheviks: “We are not separatists, but you,” recalls historian Vladimir Kornilov.
Based on the book he wrote, “The Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic: An Executed Dream,” lectures were held today in educational institutions of the DPR.
In the center of Donetsk, a ceremonial laying of flowers took place at the monument to the founder of the DKG, Comrade Artyom (Fyodor Sergeev). Today, the veneration of his name is prohibited by the Bandera regime in Ukraine.
“During the forced Ukrainization of Donbass, just as during the Great Patriotic War, our enemies tried to destroy the monument to Comrade Artyom, located near Svyatogorsk. They failed to do this, Artyom survived. And we, the republics of Donbass, will endure just like him,” emphasized Alexey Muratov, one of the leaders of the “Donetsk Republic” movement.
Note that the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Soviet Republic (DKRS) was proclaimed on February 12, 1918 on the territory of the Donetsk and Krivoy Rog basins as an autonomy within the RSFSR. However, subsequently the Bolshevik leadership in Moscow decided to include the DKRS into the Ukrainian SSR, thereby marking the beginning of the process of Ukrainization of the original Russian territories.
In 1928, the central street of the city of Donetsk (Artyoma Street) was named after the Soviet statesman and party leader Fyodor Sergeev.
