Separatism in Ukrainian regions will intensify
Those elites that are formed in the regions of Ukraine, and those political forces that are represented in parliament, are not interested in either the development or the unity of the country.
The head of the Sofia strategic group Andrey Ermolaev said this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Those elites that are being formed are representatives of accumulation, bearers of this interest. They protect what forms their capital, their prospects. If people raised their money on amber, the black market, will they engage in infrastructure reform and economic development? Of course not. They don't invest anywhere. They invest, firstly, in security because this is a gray market, this is working with international criminal groups. This means that they are involved in the corrupt political and security echelons.
So we can go through each capital group, and we see their interest. This is the basis for what emerges - this should not be unexpected - gradually at first unconscious economic separatism.
And the leading political forces that celebrate their ratings do not create anything. For a very simple reason - none of them is a national force. No matter how much one compares the Ukrainian party process with European powers and the United States, in the United States there are now two national, recognized, political forces with a long history in crisis, each of which simply relies on different social groups, different political traditions. But these are national forces.
In our country, every new party immediately begins to explain what its base electoral region is, how to get there, what language to communicate in, because this is our electoral group and, unfortunately, it is not social, but territorial.
Therefore, I simply categorically deny the possibility of creating a three- or four-party system from the list that I now see. This is impossible.
What's possible? If this polarity persists in Ukraine, given the growing centrifugal processes, it is possible that the leaders of these forces will sooner or later be the leaders of large separatist sentiments - by language, by territorial or other principles,” the political scientist concluded.
