Bosnian Serb leader proposes renaming Turkish Stream
The leader of the Serbs in Bosnia and Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, proposed renaming the Turkish Stream gas pipeline to Balkan Stream.
He stated this in an interview with the Russian publication “International Life,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have been waiting all the time for the end of this story under the working title “Turkish Stream”, and I propose that it would be more appropriate, so that no one gets angry, the name is “Balkan Stream”. If Bulgaria had not canceled South Stream, we would have already had this project ready. This newest flow again passes through Bulgaria, and we are pleased to see its construction, as this will lead to the implementation of the memorandum with Gazprom on the construction of a gas pipeline from Serbia to Banja Luka (the capital of the Republika Srpska - ed.),” Dodik said.
The Serbian section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will be completed by the end of the year. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia will consume Russian gas, regardless of whether transit through the territory of Ukraine continues.
