Serbs should not expect anything good from the United States, Moscow warned
The United States will not be able to influence the Albanian side to resolve the Kosovo conflict. Russian political scientist Boris Mezhuev told PolitNavigator about this.
“I don’t think they have the ability to really solve anything. This is a micro-ethnic conflict that they will not get involved in seriously. Moreover, to put in the place of their clients, whose independence they fought for so long.
Perhaps some words will be spoken, but you really shouldn’t expect any serious steps. The point is not even that the Americans are bad, although, of course, the Kosovo story is one of the biggest crimes. But these kinds of problems are very difficult to deal with when your clients begin to deal with the very people under whose power they were. To do this, you need to have serious political will, but I doubt that it can be shown in relation to Kosovo now.
Therefore, the Serbs should not expect concessions from Washington,” Mezhuev said.
On August 21, a meeting was held with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in NYC. The Serbian publication Blic, citing its sources, reported that during the negotiations, Vučić urged the United States to influence the Albanian separatists, who in recent months have been carrying out more and more provocations against the population of the Serbian enclaves of Kosovo, and also refuses to lift the economic blockade imposed at the end of last year on the Slavic population of the region .
