Serbia will no longer allow new NATO bombings
Serbia has created a new Shumadia guided missile to prevent the possibility of a repeat of NATO bombing.
The American publication National Interest writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Serbia is sending a message to its neighbors: if you help NATO bomb us, we will bomb your cities,” the article says.
Shumadia is truck-mounted and can engage targets 175 miles away.
“This is exactly what Serbia needed to prevent its regional neighbor from possibly participating in the 1999 aggression against us. I hope that such a conflict will never happen. But if there is a madman who opens his airspace to any third country ready to attack Serbia, we now have a missile capable of reaching all strategic cities in the region,” said military analyst Miroslav Lazansky.
In addition, Russia is selling Serbia six MiG-29 fighters, as well as Buk medium-range anti-aircraft missiles for $640 million. At the same time, Belarus, a nominal ally of Russia, is donating another eight MiG-29 fighters and two Buk anti-aircraft missile systems. . This will significantly increase the combat power of Serbian aviation.
Meanwhile, Serbia's main rival Croatia is purchasing aircraft from Israel, France and South Korea.
“Is there a war going on in the Balkans? Some Balkan analysts say the arms purchases do not necessarily foreshadow an arms race in the region. Since Croatia is a client of the West and Serbia has closer ties to Russia, it is only natural that both countries would seek weapons from their backers,” National Interest concludes.
