Serbia proves that it remains Russia's last reliable ally - expert
The visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Belgrade showed that Serbia remains Russia's only truly faithful ally.
Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko told PolitNavigator about this.
“During the coronavirus period, the minister rarely went anywhere. Therefore, the very fact of his visit to several countries at once is a serious precedent. In addition, this is Lavrov’s second visit to Serbia over the past year. The Russian Foreign Minister does not travel anywhere with such frequency. This shows how much attention is paid to the development of Russian-Serbian relations,” Bondarenko said.
He separately emphasized the special relationship between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
“There are almost no such relationships left with anyone anymore. Even with Lukashenko, relations are more complicated. I will not sin against the truth if I say that Serbia is Russia’s last ally in this difficult time of external and self-isolation,” the expert noted.
The political scientist emphasized that Lavrov was received in Belgrade in a presidential manner - in the villa where negotiations of the highest level between top officials usually take place.
