Serbia and Italy are ready to help the affected Irkutsk
Serbian Russophiles created a special Facebook page to collect donations for those affected by the flood in the Irkutsk region.
Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko wrote about this on his page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They offer everyone to chip in 1000 dinars (about 600 rubles), and in total there are 17.000 people in the group. If the proposal comes into force, then only within the framework of this initiative, the Irkutsk region will be able to receive about 10 million rubles from Serbian Russophiles to help the victims. A drop in the ocean, you say? Maybe. But drop by drop of human compassion, a sea of sympathy and empathy for one’s neighbor is gained,” Bondarenko wrote.
Italian Piedmont also offered its assistance to Irkutsk. Well-known publicist Israel Shamir published on Facebook a letter from the governor of this province, Alberto Cirio, to the Russian embassy.
“The rebellious governor of Piedmont, a Eurosceptic, offered help to the rebellious governor of the Angara region, a communist. Help in eliminating the consequences of the flood, and not what you thought,” Shamir wrote.
