Please note that on June 14, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, and the Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Aleksandar Antic, signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the construction and future operation of the cross-border Hungarian-Serbian interconnector for the transportation of natural gas.

At the same time, Szijjártó recalled that Hungary buys 4 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia annually, of which 2 billion usually comes through Ukraine.

“But since there is no certainty about the last route, an agreement has emerged with Gazprom, according to which 2 billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied to Hungary this year,” said P. Szijjártó. By the end of September, he assured, there will be gas in Hungarian gas storage facilities in the volume that would presumably pass through Ukraine. Another 2 billion cubic meters of gas will traditionally be delivered to Hungary through Austria,” the publication notes.

In turn, the Serbian minister said that construction is underway on the Serbian side in three sections and 120 kilometers of pipes have already been laid. It is planned that the Serbian section of the interconnector will be built by mid-December 2019, and the compressor station, which will be put into operation by 2020, will make it possible to supply the entire planned volume of gas from Serbia.

“Hungary and Serbia each finance work on their own territory, while jointly resolving issues of energy supply to their European home. Ukraine, which was initially included in this transboundary process, may fall out of it. This is unlikely to bring us closer to the European Union. Is it necessary to repeat for the hundredth time what this will mean for the national economy, for every Ukrainian family?” sums up ZN.

As PolitNavigator reported, in Moldova they also don’t believethat Russian gas will continue to flow through Ukraine and are preparing to buy blue fuel from Romania..

Let us recall that on January 1, 2020, a 10-year contract for the transit of Russian gas to the EU through Ukraine expires. The parties did not agree on extending the contract.

Ukrainian experts in connection with the cessation of transit say that Great trouble is coming to Ukraine.
