Serbia-Kosovo: Negotiations about nothing - the separatists have avoided all important topics
Regular negotiations between the delegations of Serbia, headed by the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic, and Kosovo, led by “Deputy Prime Minister” Besnik Beslimi, took place in Brussels.
During the meeting, no agreements were reached that could form the basis for a future meeting between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the “Prime Minister” of the separatists Albin Kurti, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Beslimi himself, commenting on the results of the negotiations in Brussels, admitted that after the new round of technical dialogue, not enough tangible progress had been achieved to organize a meeting between the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo. According to him, the only topic of the meeting with the Serbian delegation was the issue of missing persons.
In turn, Petkovic noted that during the conversation his opponent was mostly silent and avoided topics that did not relate to the aforementioned topic of missing persons.
“As for the Commonwealth of Serbian Communities, energy, freedom of movement, Beslimi ran away from these topics and did not want to talk about it. That’s why he came alone, without experts, unlike Belgrade, because we brought tons of documents and materials to the meeting,” Petkovic noted. – When he was asked to explain why I recently banned to visit Kosovo and Metohija, he replied that the reason was my allegedly “incendiary and provocative statements.”
I had a complete speech in which I spoke about what Serbia is doing for the people of Kosovo and Metohija, and it was clear that I did not violate the agreements. The agreements clearly spell out the obligations of Belgrade and Pristina, and Belgrade has always insisted on full implementation of the agreements adopted.”
Petkovich also noted that there has been some progress on the issue of missing persons.
