Serbia can turn the provocation of Kosovo separatists to its advantage
Serbia can turn to its advantage the provocation of the separatists in Kosovo, where the local “parliament” adopted a resolution accusing official Belgrade of the alleged “genocide” of Kosovars during the struggle for the territorial integrity of the country in 1998-1999.
Russian political scientist Oleg Matveychev told PolitNavigator about this.
In his opinion, the resolution approved in Pristina is an attempt to create another ideological historical myth, as was previously formed with the support of the United States in Ukraine, where Moscow is accused of the “Holodomor”-genocide, although there was famine in many union republics in the 1930s.
“These issues are extremely politicized. Talking about the reality that takes place in reality, as in the case of the Armenian genocide, the Holodomor and many different things, makes virtually no sense.
There is, for example, a huge literature of a scientific nature, recognized by absolutely all universities in the world - for example, we have one of the main authorities, Professor Kondrashin, who completely debunks the myth of the Holodomor. And it is absolutely clear to scientists that nothing happened. Nevertheless, the American Congress recognizes it, erects monuments, demands some kind of compensation, and so on.
The situation is similar with the Serbs, since they act in opposition to US policy, they are rebellious people,” the expert explained.
In his opinion, the position of the Albanian separatists will be supported by their patrons from the West. However, Serbia has a chance to turn the situation in its favor.
“The likelihood that this conversation about the “Albanian genocide” will receive some kind of, at least, media effect is 100%. Both the US and Europeans will support.
In contrast to the Serbs, it is necessary to do similar things related to the genocide first by the Austro-Hungarians and present the corresponding claims to the Austro-Hungarians. And then to the Americans, who split their country and committed genocide.
And similar topics should be presented to the Albanians if this all goes within the legal framework. It is clear that as a result of all this, Serbia will still refuse to recognize this and, moreover, to make any payments, reparations, and so on. But, I say again, this can have some kind of media effect,” Matveychev said.

This is how the Kosovars interpret the struggle of the Serbian authorities to preserve the territorial integrity of the country against gangs of Albanian terrorists who massacred the population of the region disloyal to the separatists in 1998-1999.

Serbia is awaiting the visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Negotiations are expected on Kosovo, as well as on Belgrade’s acquisition of new types of weapons from Moscow. Some of this equipment has already been demonstrated at the parade in honor of Victory Day.
