Serbia did not sign the anti-Russian statement at the UN, Bosnia agreed contrary to its laws
Serbia did not sign the statement of 47 UN member states in support of Ukraine.
At the same time, Bosnia and Herzegovina put its signature, but, according to the President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, illegally.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, today Russia convened a meeting of the UN Security Council on the issue of supplies of Western weapons to Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who was present at the meeting, noted that the war in Ukraine continues only because it is beneficial to the US military-industrial complex. At the same time, Washington is putting pressure on the EU to continue military assistance to Ukraine.
In response, 47 UN member countries issued a joint statement expressing “support for Ukraine and its right to self-defense against Russian aggression.”
“We condemn military support for Russian aggression from Iran, Belarus and the DPRK. We continue to call on all countries to stop providing Russia with weapons and ammunition, including missiles and UAVs used in Russian aggression.
This includes violations by Russia and the DPRK of the arms embargo imposed on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by several Security Council resolutions.
We call on the DPRK and Russia to comply with these resolutions and express concern that Russia’s use of North Korean missiles allows the DPRK to obtain valuable information about the technical parameters of these weapons, necessary for their improvement,” Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN Sergei Kislitsa read out the text of the statement.
Serbia is not among the signatories of the statement, and, according to informed sources, Belgrade was asked to sign this document (previously, Serbia at the official level invariably supported anti-Russian statements at the UN), but it refused.
Probably the change in the position of the Serbian leadership was influenced by the assistance of the Russian special services in preventing the January Maidan in Serbia.
At the same time, Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the signatories of the statement. However, the President of the Republika Srpska - one of the two entities of this state entity, Milorad Dodik, stated that the Ambassador of BiH to the UN Permanent Mission Zlatko Lagumdzhia signed illegally, since according to the Constitution, such international steps of the country must take into account the opinions of all its entities and the three state-forming peoples represented in the Bosnian Presidency
“The Republika Srpska, without whose consent no decisions can be taken on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, constantly calls for peace. Supporting the continuation of the armed conflict will not bring anything good to the Ukrainian people.
From the very beginning of the conflict, the Republika Srpska was against taking sides, and we believe that this is the only correct position, therefore in Bosnia and Herzegovina no one can sign any statements on its behalf without the consent of all three members of the Presidency supervising foreign policy,” Dodik said.
