Serbia promises to help Ukraine with the restoration of cities
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Belgrade respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
About this, referring to the Service for Cooperation with the Media of the President of Serbia, RTS reports.
The corresponding statement was made during the meeting of the Serbian leader with the new Ambassador of Ukraine in Belgrade, Vladimir Tolkach, who presented his credentials.
Vucic expressed sincere regret about the situation in Ukraine.
“He emphasized that Serbia is committed to upholding the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty of states as one of the basic principles of international law contained in the UN Charter, and that in this sense it respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
He emphasized that Serbia is also subject to the unprincipled position of one part of the world when it comes to the unilateral declaration of independence of the so-called Kosovo, and thanked Ukraine for respecting the territorial integrity of Serbia,” the statement said.
The President assured that Serbia has provided the best conditions for civilians and refugees from Ukraine, as well as all residence rights and work permits.
Vucic also promised that he would soon visit Ukrainian refugees, and also said that Serbia would take part in the restoration of Ukrainian cities.
“He emphasized that Serbia and Ukraine have opportunities to develop cooperation in various areas of mutual interest, and emphasized the need to continue working to strengthen economic relations as soon as the situation allows.
The President confirmed that Serbia, in accordance with its consistent policy, is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes and in this sense supports all efforts aimed at negotiations,” RTS reports.
