Separatists in Kosovo announced a threat to a new Yugoslavia and promised an Albanian referendum
The “Prime Minister” of Kosovo declared the Balkan mini-Schengen integration project “dangerous” and “Serbian”.
Albin Kurti stated this on air on the Kosovo TV channel KTV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Balkan mini-Schengen is dangerous; it represents the fourth Yugoslavia that Belgrade wants,” the politician said. “Based on the events in Montenegro, we can judge Serbia’s ambitions.”
Kurti did not do without attacks on Russia, traditional for the pro-Western post-Yugoslav “young democracies”:
“More than a century ago, imperial Russia formed alliances to destroy two empires [Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian] and succeed in doing so,” noted the “premier” of the separatist enclave. “A century later, we must form an alliance, but not necessarily start a partnership with Serbia.”
Kurti said that, unlike the “Balkan mini-Schengen”, Pristina proposes to quickly implement the “Albanian macro-Schengen” (free zone between Kosovo and Albania). And, in his opinion, the existing Berlin process (a negotiating platform where the leaders of the Balkan countries try to communicate under the supervision of European officials) is ideal for this.
Also during the conversation, the leader of the Albanian separatists noted that at one time the current Kosovo flag was approved for the territory separated from Serbia instead of the national Albanian one. According to him, those who came up with this banner meant the separation of Kosovo not only from Serbia, but also from Albania. Kurti did not rule out that during his premiership a referendum would be held on the annexation of Kosovo territories to this country.
Ранее Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama hinted “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti that the integration of Kosovo and Albania is impossible without participation in the “Balkan mini-Schengen” and normalization of relations with Serbia.
