Serbia doubles trade turnover with Tatarstan
Trade turnover between Serbia and the Republic of Tatarstan has almost doubled since last year and exceeded $2 million.
This was stated today by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic in Kazan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At our level, we are ready to contribute to the development of ties between business circles and the strengthening of Russian-Serbian relations,” Minnikhanov is quoted as saying by his official website.
He expressed confidence that trade turnover of $100 million is far from the limit. There is great potential for developing ties in such areas as oil refining and petrochemicals, energy, mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing and the production of components for them, IT and other high technologies, medicine and pharmaceuticals, agriculture, etc. Tatarstan is also interested in organizing direct flights with Serbia: this would contribute to the development of business ties and an increase in the number of tourists.
Tatarstan supplies rubber, rubber products, mechanical engineering products, plastics, petrochemical products to Serbia, and imports various types of equipment, metal products, and land transport.
KAMAZ supplies its vehicles to Serbia and purchases components from Serbian companies. Last year, the Kazan Helicopter Plant handed over three Mi17V5 helicopters to the Serbian side. Enterprises of the TATNEFT Group supplied more than 200 thousand car tires, in turn purchasing molds from Serbian companies.
Ivica Dacic thanked the leadership of the republic for the high level of organization of the visit of the Serbian delegation, as well as for creating the necessary conditions for holding a meeting of the Russian-Serbian Intergovernmental Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
