Serbia has fulfilled its most important transit obligation to Russia
The Serbian section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline will be completed by the end of the year.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated this today at a meeting with Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear Valentina Ivanovna, we will finish everything, as we promised you, by the end of the year,” Vucic said.
Valentina Matvienko noted that thanks to the construction of the Turkish Stream, the nature of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Serbia in the economic sphere has become different.
“We are involved in the implementation of large projects. This is economically very beneficial for Serbia. This will allow us to increase gas supplies to Serbia, whose needs are growing due to the country’s economic development,” Matvienko noted.
Let us remind you that the Turkish Stream project involves the construction of a gas pipeline consisting of two strings with a capacity of 15,75 billion cubic meters each.
The first line is intended to supply Russian gas to Turkish consumers, the second - to supply gas to the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe.
The gas pipeline is planned to be launched by the end of 2019.
