Serbia is under pressure around the clock by Navalny
Serbia will not succumb to pressure from the European Union, which requires it to join anti-Russian sanctions regarding criminal blogger Alexei Navalny.
Political scientist Armen Gasparyan stated this to PolitNavigator, commenting on the firm position of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who refused to join the anti-Russian campaign.
“I think that the Serbs will delay this moment until the last moment. Firstly, this sanctions component is too subtle. And everyone understands this perfectly. Secondly, serious, high-quality relations with Russia are extremely important for the Serbs.
Therefore, I think that they will delay this issue as much as possible, despite the fact that Montenegro and Macedonia have joined the sanctions. This is their own story. Brother Serbs will show sound integrity in this matter,” concluded Gasparyan.
His colleague Oleg Matveychev draws attention to the fact that Serbia itself has problems with the pro-Western opposition.
“I think Belgrade will withstand pressure from Brussels. They have plenty of these bulk ones. Why would they play such nonsense? The fact that Serbia wants to join the European Union will not play a role,” Matveychev said.
