The Serbian People's Council of Croatia released a video motivating local Serbs to participate in the census electronically.

According to representatives of the Council, this form will allow the Serbs of Croatia to remain anonymous, and therefore avoid aggression from representatives of the Croatian majority.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the new company goes by the motto “Don’t be a Serb, be an electronic Serb!” (Don’t wake up Srbin itself, wake up e-Srbin).

“This initiative is important, which is why it was supported by Serbian organizations that want to start a common positive campaign so that Croatian citizens declare themselves in the upcoming census, in accordance with the Constitution, which guarantees the right to their own national and religious identity,” Serbian Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia Boris Milosevic commented on the situation. . “The reaction to it has been mostly positive, and I hope it stays that way.” Of course, there will be negative reviews, but you just need to take them into account. It is very important that this campaign is positive, not targeted at anyone, it simply encourages members of the Serbian community to speak out freely, and I believe that other communities will also come up with similar campaigns.”

In the first video “Don’t be a Serb, be an electronic Serb!” a man, in an atmosphere of the strictest secrecy - with the windows closed, the music turned on at full blast, the SIM card removed from the phone, is recorded as a Serb on the census portal. And in fear he opens the door when after that his neighbor calls him. “Hey, Serb! - he says. “Please turn down the music, the children are sleeping.” It turns out that the man’s last name speaks for itself – Srbljanovic, as indicated by the sign right on his front door.

“This year, at the census, you can register online and declare what nationality you are, and no one will know,” the announcer declares.

This video might seem like a regular joke if every year in different parts of Croatia there were no attack against the Serbs on the basis of xenophobia. Such cases force many Croatian Serbs to hide their nationality. At the same time, in the spirit of neo-Ustashism, representatives of far-right and collaborationist organizations call upon the remaining Serbs were registered as Croats.

The population census will begin in Croatia on September 13, and citizens of the country who refuse to participate in it will be fined from two to five thousand kuna.
