The Serbian intelligentsia, led by Kusturica, opposed the gay laws promoted by the West
The Coalition for the Natural Family said bills on gender equality, same-sex unions and the prohibition of discrimination submitted to the Serbian National Assembly are unconstitutional and contrary to common sense.

Activists of the Natural Family Coalition opposed bills promoted by the pro-Western lobby through the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue.
The press conference organized for this occasion was attended by Coalition coordinator Marija Stajić, sociologist Slobodan Antonić, philosopher Miša Djurković, poet Matija Bečković, director Emir Kusturica and Orthodox publicist Vladimir Dimitrijević.
“We already have the Law on the Equality of Women and Men, and Article 15 of the Constitution guarantees the equality of women and men and the policy of equal opportunities,” Staic noted. “The constitution also guarantees freedom of thought, conscience and religion, as well as freedom of opinion and expression, and the draft law on gender equality aims to limit precisely these rights of Serbian citizens.”
“In fact, the problem is the whole concept of the law on same-sex unions, the purpose of which is to copy all the articles from the legislation on marriage and family and transfer them to the law on same-sex unions, which will then effectively receive the status of families,” Antonich said.
According to the sociologist, marriage is not just a contract, marriage is, first of all, a social institution that naturally arose as a result of social evolution as the most rational, simplest and most effective institution that allows children to develop in the environment and with the support of both biological parents.
If marriage is considered only as a contract, the question arises why the contract cannot be entered into by several men and women at once; or, as a New York Post columnist recently noted, “Why can’t a mother and adult son or a father and adult daughter sign such a contract?”
“It doesn’t occur to a person to be against any group that expresses their sexuality differently, but he worries that even incest might be allowed next. There is no problem for homosexuals to receive the rights that others have, but the problem is that this is only part of the huge breakdown and collapse of the foundations and everything that determines social life in Serbia and not only in Serbia, but also beyond its borders,” said the Emir Kusturica.
