The Serbian opposition again attacked television
The traditional rally of the pro-Western Serbian opposition “1 in 5 million” in Belgrade gathered no more than 500 people, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the same time, Maidan activists once again attacked state media. They covered the front door of the media center with “New Year’s wishes”: “Being silent is not Serbian,” “Five minutes for five million,” “Our right to know everything.”
This time, the main speaker was Srdjan Markovic, one of the young supporters of Dragan Djilas, who seized the Rector’s Office building of the University of Belgrade this year. He assured the few supporters that the authorities were afraid of them, so the protests must continue.
It was he who called on citizens to go together to Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS) to tell them what they expect in 2020.
At the television building, Maidan protesters began making noise to disrupt the broadcast of the news program.
After a three-month break, protests also took place in Kragujevac. Vice-President of the Freedom and Justice Party Marinika Tepic, activists Biljana Stojkovic and Srdjan Milivojevic addressed the citizens gathered in one of the city squares.
Previously, Serbian oppositionists had already tried to block the television center and disrupt broadcasts with the participation of the country's President Aleksandar Vucic
