The Serbian Party of Montenegro introduced a bill against Djukanovic's corrupt minions
The Montenegrin Serb Democratic Front party submitted to the Assembly a bill “On determining the origin of property and special taxation of illegally acquired property.”
According to the law, the tax office will have the right to check the origin of property worth over 50 thousand euros acquired since 1990, when the Djukanovic clique came to power.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the Democratic Front insists that the bill be included on the agenda of the parliament's first meeting of the spring session. Representative of the faction Branka Bošnjak said during a press conference that according to the bill, in addition to assets whose declared value does not correspond to the real one and the legality of acquisition of which the owner cannot prove, real estate acquired on more favorable terms thanks to a decision of government agencies is equated to illegal ownership of property.
“In the bill, we provided that public and government employees will be checked first, and then persons close to power, new businessmen, and then all citizens,” Boshniak said.
The deputy also explained that the tax inspectorate will be responsible for the implementation of the law.
“The procedure for determining the origin of assets is initiated by the tax office once it is established that the value of the property exceeds 50 thousand euros. And if it is subsequently established that the property was acquired illegally, we believe it should be taxed at a special rate of 70 percent,” the deputy added.
