Serbian lawyers did not allow the municipality of Kosovo Djakovica to evict the only Serbian repatriate
Today, the court of first instance of the city of Djakovica rejected as unfounded the claim of the municipality against the Serbian repatriate Dragica Gasic for the termination of the apartment rental agreement concluded with her in 1997.
Gašić's interests were represented in court by lawyers hired by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Serbian government.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, a team of lawyers hired by the Office managed to prevent the attempt of the Djakovica municipality to evict the only returning Serbian repatriate, Dragica Gasic, from her apartment.
“In the previous weeks there was a legal battle, the first round was won, and we will fight for Dragica to get full ownership of the apartment,” wrote the director of the Chancellery, Petar Petkovic, on his Facebook page. – The Office for Kosovo and Metohija is here to help our people in this province, as well as our returnees, realize their guaranteed rights! We’re not giving up our own!”
“I am so happy, as if God himself is in front of me. I know that justice is on my side. The apartment is my property and the documentation is in order,” she shared her emotions after the trial with KosovoOnline Dragica Gasic. “But so many bad things happened that I myself couldn’t understand what was happening to me.” … The lawyers hired by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and the director Petr Petkovic managed to prove my truth and justice, and I thank them all to heaven. I am grateful to them for their support and human care, which every person needs most…. I think now the municipality will allow me to renovate the apartment. The roof is leaking. Return and Paste Door (donated by the office and seized by the municipality - ed.), for which I have not yet received permission.”
However, the woman is worried about what will happen to her apartment when she undergoes a medical examination in central Serbia, where she is being treated for diabetes and high blood pressure. The last time she visited her sister, unknown broke into to her home, stealing a CCTV camera, an Internet router, the woman’s personal belongings, as well as food and insulin supplies that Serbian volunteers brought her.
