Serbian Maidan activists launched a false campaign in the Russian media
The Serbian oligarchy, which under President Aleksandar Vucic lost sources of illicit enrichment, is now attacking the country’s leader through the Russian media.
The famous Russian Balkanist Pyotr Iskenderov wrote about this column for the Regnum agency, commenting on the publications of Mladjan Djordjevic, an adviser to the main sponsor of the Serbian Maidan activists, oligarch Dragan Djilas, that appeared in the Russian Federation, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Neither Kosovo, nor pressure on the media, nor the pro-European policy of the Serbian leadership, nor Aleksandar Vucic’s strengthening of ties with China, nor even the alleged “betrayal of Russia” and pro-Russian voters have anything to do with it. “Hundreds of millions of euros are at stake - for the sake of which one can burst out with accusatory libels in the Russian, Chinese, or Kosovo-Albanian media,” Iskenderov wrote.
He recalls that Djilas earned at least 619 million euros while in public service, and Vucic, who deprived the oligarch of his protectorate, blocked his path to illegal enrichment.
The Balkanist considers Djordjevic’s ostentatious Russophilia to be false, since back in 2019, his patron Djilas, addressing European deputies, accused Aleksandar Vucic of promoting the growth of Russia’s popularity in Serbia.
