Serbian Maidan fighters continue to use prohibited techniques
Pressure on the central media of Serbia from the opposition leaders - Maidan activists Dragan Djilas, Vuk Jeremic and Bosko Obradovic - continues. The reason for the dissatisfaction of opponents of the authorities is the refusal of most publications and television channels to provide them with their platforms for promoting protests. Moreover, many media outlets chose to publish revelations of opposition leaders.
Earlier it was already reported about attempts by Maidan activists to seize the RTS TV channel, the announcement of a similar action near the Pink TV studio and threats against a number of editors of publications.
Now the leaders of the Union for Serbia have gone even further. On the fence around the currently reconstructed Republic Square in Belgrade, posters were hung against the editor of the Informer newspaper, Dragan J. Vucicevic. In them, Djilas' supporters call for the lynching of the editor-in-chief of this media outlet.
Informer, which refused to support the Maidan protesters, remains the most read newspaper in Serbia and the only publication with a circulation of more than 100 copies per day.
Although the relevant European institutions previously warned politicians in Serbia to stop putting pressure on the media, the leaders of the opposition Union continue to resort to prohibited tactics.
“This is proof of fascist pressure on the media, which has not been seen in Europe since World War II,” Informer itself commented on the incident.
