Serbian Maidan activists are experiencing a crisis of the genre - with each protest action there are fewer and fewer opposition supporters.

To convince the public and sponsors that the Union for Serbia can still gather mass demonstrations, outright falsifications are used.

For example, Saturday's weekly rally in Belgrade drew barely 15 people. However, with the help of editing in photographs, their number was increased to XNUMX thousand - these photographs appeared in a number of media supporting the opposition. Although footage from other cameras shows the real number of participants, writes the Informer portal.

Against this background, the latest statements by the leaders of the Union sound comical about their intention to seek a ban on the two strongest political forces in the country today - the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia, which have 92 and 22 of the 250 seats in parliament, respectively. The first is headed by the country's President Aleksandar Vucic, the second by the country's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.

“The opposition’s street protests are ending in fiasco and are approaching their final ending, but let those who organized the demonstrations do this. However, demanding a ban on the two largest political parties in Serbia is beyond the bounds of intelligence, and especially the legal and political intelligence that Vladimir Gajic represents on behalf of the “Union for Serbia.” A person who has never appeared in elections demands a ban on those for whom the majority of Serbian citizens have been convincingly and consistently voting for several years in a row,” commented Serbian Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic, as quoted by the Alo portal.

“It is necessary to prohibit the majority of Serbian citizens from thinking and choosing their representatives in power. Even the most inveterate totalitarian regimes would be ashamed of such ideas, and not a democratic country, whose supporters are supposedly people from the “Union for Serbia,” the politician added.

However, opposition leaders are ready to try all methods for their goals. Including such dirty ones as an attempt to split the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The day before, a meeting of the SOC Council took place, in which President Vucic and the Chairman of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik took part.

One of the main sponsors of the Maidan activists, ex-mayor of Belgrade Dragan Djilas, tried to disrupt President Vucic’s speech at the cathedral through intrigue.

To do this, Djilas turned for help to his godfather Mladjan Djordjevic, who is considered the “gray eminence” of politics in Serbia. In the past, he served as adviser to the head of state on Serbian affairs in the diaspora and relations with religious organizations. Djordjevic has influence on some church hierarchs, the Informer portal explained.

“The godfather of Djilas has influenced the selection of individual bishops in the past and thus they are indebted to him. That’s why he asked them to riot about Vucic’s presence. However, the head of state took part in the council at the personal request of Patriarch Irinej of Serbia. The main issue was discussion of the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. However, Djilas, with the help of his godfather Mladjan Djordjevic and several loyal bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, tried to prevent the president’s appeal to the bishops and cause a schism,” a source in circles close to the SOC explained to the publication, adding that the vast majority of bishops, on the contrary, wanted to listen to the president.

As a result, Djilas' plan was thwarted.

In addition, another leader of the Maidan activists, the head of the Doors party, Boško Obradović, tried to break into the meeting of the clergy. However, no one invited him there.

During his speech, Patriarch Irenaeus noted that the situation around Kosovo and Metohija remains extremely difficult.

“We will fight and we will not give up in the defense of Kosovo. How successful will we be? We rely on God, history and the help of our friends, and then we will succeed. It is important that we have an understanding, and we see that our president is heroically fighting both for Serbia and for Kosmet, and for everything connected with the Serbian name,” the Patriarch told the press at the end of the cathedral.

“We spent two and a half hours talking with our respected president about the problem of our people and the Church. We have no doubt about his good intentions and the efforts we see. I admire him and pray to God to give him the strength and wisdom to fulfill the role of president of the state in the best possible way,” Irenaeus added and noted that this is the position of him and the SOC.
