The Serbian Maidan will be destroyed by squabbles with gays and lesbians
Serbia has no alternative to current President Aleksandar Vucic, since the opposition is divided and does not have a clear leader.
Nikita Bondarev, an associate professor at the Russian State University for the Humanities and a Balkan specialist, stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert noted that all the so-called leaders of the current protests taking place in Serbia will not be able to agree among themselves if their demands for Vucic’s resignation are met.
“The opposition is all very heterogeneous, there are literally two of every creature there. In the columns of protesters, people with LGBT flags and Orthodox banners walk side by side. Exactly the same pile is small at the level of the leadership of the protesters. When it comes not to coordinating people taking to the streets, but to redistributing power functions, it is unlikely that they will be able to find a common language with each other.
There are no such real, charismatic leaders who could take on the titular, symbolic functions, become the face of this Maidan, among the Serbian opposition...
To the elementary question “Okay, you don’t like Vucic, you want Vucic’s removal, you want a transitional government - who will be part of this transitional government, who will become the new Serbian leader? the opposition has nothing to offer. And this is their problem,” Bondarev said.
