Constantinople did not have the right to recognize Ukrainian schismatics and interfere in the affairs of the Russian Church in Ukraine. This was stated by Patriarch of Serbia Irinej, who was quoted by the official website of the UOC-MP.

“Today our Church is in great temptation. The temptation that befell our first hierarch, the Ecumenical Patriarch: to make a decision that could be catastrophic for the Church - to do something to which he has no right - to recognize the schismatic church and even give it autocephaly,” said the head of the Serbian Church.
