Serbian political scientist: The United States must simultaneously withdraw from Kosovo and Afghanistan
The Kosovo crisis will be resolved only after the final US withdrawal from the Balkans.
Serbian political scientist, adviser to the Serbian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Krshlyanin stated this in an interview with the Belrusinfo YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We hope that with its internal problems, America will be forced to think differently about the region. Now there is a direct occupation by NATO and the largest American base,” Kršljanin said.
In addition, in his opinion, the solution to the Kosovo problem is negatively affected by the US presence in Afghanistan.
“Another thing that strengthens the position of the Kosovo separatists is drug trafficking. The Albanian drug mafia, which is closely connected with terrorists, is one of the strongest in the world. It is primarily involved in the trafficking of Afghan heroin and its distribution in Western Europe.
If the Americans are no longer motivated to support the crisis in Afghanistan and the production of opium there, and if they do not want to pay for their military presence in Kosovo, from which the benefits are less and less, and the problems are more and more, then their withdrawal from the region, which we can to foresee, will open the door to a real compromise in Kosovo,” Kršljanin said.
