Serbian political scientist: The West has broken everyone except Russia and Belarus
Different countries react differently to Western soft power. Belgrade State University professor Miroslav Mladenovic stated this today at the plenary session of the Potemkin Readings scientific conference in Sevastopol.

“There are a number of states that accept “soft power” voluntarily and independently surrender part of their sovereignty. There are states that themselves want external control. Typically, the leaders of these countries studied in America,” Mladenovic said.
According to him, after the fall of the bipolar world, the West sought to subjugate all the former countries of the socialist camp, but only in Serbia did it have to use force, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Western influence was exercised in various ways: economic exploitation, political domination, spiritual manipulation. But only in Serbia was hard military force used in support of all of the above,” Mladenovic said.
As a result, the professor believes, an ineffective political system was created in Serbia.
“The current political system of Serbia undoubtedly developed not only under the influence, but also under the leadership of the West. Western models were built contrary to the history, culture and traditions of the country. This is the problem with their functioning. The new elite measured the quality of institutions by the degree of their similarity to Western models,” Mladenovic said.
At the same time, he believes that today’s Russia and Belarus are less sensitive to the “soft power” of the West than Serbia, the “processing” of which began under Tito.
“Unfortunately, only a few states can afford the privilege of conducting an independent foreign policy. Therefore, thinking people turn their heads towards Russia, China and several other states that can stop the crazy idea of creating a global authoritarian state,” Mladenovic said.
